Easton Joins U.S. Naval War College
China Maritime Studies Institute’s Strategic and Operational Research Department
By Wendell Minnick (Whiskey Mike) 顏文德
TAIPEI - It is official, Ian Easton is now an Associate Professor in the U.S. Naval War College’s China Maritime Studies Institute’s Strategic and Operational Research Department.
He will bring more than his knowledge and boots-on-the-ground experience in Taiwan and China, but a salt-of-the-earth perspective.
Easton grew up in the corn fields of Illinois where his father was a State Trooper.
There is no Ivy League arrogance or insulation from reality in his demeanor.
He was fortunate to eject from the Project 2049 Institute before it plowed nose first into the asphalt. A wise move not just for survival sake, but also to get out of the Washington beltway of cognitive bias.
His book, The Chinese Invasion Threat: Taiwan’s Defense and American Strategy in Asia (2017), was the first of a kind.
Left to Right: Ian Easton, retired U.S. Navy Captain James Fanell, and the sad sack of shit - Me.
