VFW - Taiwan
Ground Truth vs. the Mushroom Management System
By Wendell Minnick (Whiskey Mike) 顏文德
TAIPEI - Holy Shit! This is great!
VFW Washington Office Executive Director Ryan Gallucci hosted a visit from Secretary General Chien, Shih-Feng and the Taiwanese veteran delegation. Today's meeting was the first of its kind for Secretary Chien since his appointment as secretary general and supports the VFW’s longstanding resolution to support the Republic of China (Taiwan) by offering the opportunity for VFW and Taiwanese representatives to exchange valuable information on veteran issues.
Let us visit the VFW club in Taipei to learn more about how Taiwan has shown genuine concern over U.S. combat veterans living on the island.
It must be just like other VFW clubs in Asia with a members only sign on the door, pool table, an American flag proudly displayed, pretty girls manning the bar, real American cheeseburgers on the menu, etc….you know…the template…
America! Love It or Leave It?
Whatever…
U.S. war veterans on the island who actually dare to venture into Taiwan’s most notorious red light district, the infamous Combat Zone, will find a VFW sign on the upper left as they enter Malibu Pub.
It is actually the only clean bar in the Combat Zone.
The girls are not prostitutes…just old tired unhappy Filipinas. There is no pool table, no flag, no members only sign.
Ironically, the Combat Zone is a red light district that actually discourages men from procuring a prostitute. Most of them are old women with lips hanging down like an old man’s testicles. Slapping the inside of their thighs when they strut up to you; flapping like a sail on a decrepit pirate ship with a crazy compass. Buy me drinkie?
So what are we to make of the Taiwan delegation’s visit to the VFW headquarters in D.C. a few days ago?
To be fair, earlier in May, President Tsai Ing-wen met with Timothy Borland, commander-in-chief of the VFW, along with Gallucci, at the Presidential Building. Note in the photograph below the empty seats to the left, there are NO local VFW officers in the photograph:
The Taiwan VFW has an amazing history. It is not only one of the oldest VFWs in Asia, but one of the most fascinating legacies that include the U.S. Flying Tigers in mainland China, thus the Post’s name:
It is impressive how Taiwan government officials can walk into the VFW in Washington with their shit eating grins with such grandiose hypocrisy.
Perhaps when Chien returns to Taipei, he could just drop by one of the VFW meetings for a beer and leave without paying.
This is the standard Taiwan government “mushroom management system” at work for all foreigners: treat them like mushrooms, keep them in the dark, and feed them shit.
Which is also how the Taiwan government handles visiting U.S. Congressional and other government delegations.
Keep them corralled in the Grand Hyatt, take them to some Temples, throw think tankers at them with their lies, and make damn sure they do not talk to anyone in the KMT or God-forsake a local Taiwanese journalist who knows where the bodies are buried.
Exempli gratia, here is what many Taiwanese really think of Pelosi’s idiotic promises during her visit. They made a patch in her honor:

Didn't there used to be an actual VFW up near Tienmu? I don't mean in the 70s, but in the late 90s? It may not have been a VF -- but I seem to remember going there for Thanksgiving one time with some of the other hostel inmates.
