The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Type 23 Military Ribbons
Turning Chicken Ribs into Chicken Drumsticks
By Wendell Minnick (Whiskey Mike) 顏文德
TAIPEI - A report identifying command ribbons for the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has been released by EXOVERA’s Center for Intelligence Research and Analysis (CIRA).
The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Type 23 Military Ribbons: Turning Chicken Ribs into Chicken Drumsticks, by Edward Francis, Jennifer Chang, and Ken Allen, is the first time I have seen a deep dive on what Chinese military ribbons represent.
For the intelligence analyst, these “fruit salads” can be confusing and misunderstood.
And, with the proper directory, a photograph of a PLA officer can become an open-source gold mine.
This is particularly true since China’s military is so opaque.
I encourage my readership to keep a keen eye on present and future reports issued by EXOVRA's CIRA in the future.
