TAIPEI - The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced on 23 August 2023 that the U.S. State Department approved a Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to TECRO, the de facto Taiwan embassy in Washington, D.C.
The estimated $500 million program is for the Infrared Search and Track (IRST) system manufactured by Lockheed Martin and will be equipped on Taiwan’s F-16C/D fighter aircraft.
The IRST is technically called the AN/ASG-34 Infrared Search-and-Track system.
According to the Lockheed website (with below photograph/art), the IRST system is carried within a Legion Pod.
