Sneaky Taiwan Military to Store Munitions in Temples
Locals Go Apeshit!
By Wendell Minnick (Whiskey Mike) 顏文德; Thanks to Ross Feingold for flagging this news (@RossFeingold on X).
TAIPEI - Media reports that the Miaoli County Reserve Command sent temples letters with agreements to sign that would allow them to store munitions in areas the temples were not using.
Genius!
Just like Hamas. Hospitals, schools, mosques…
During World War II, American bombers accidentally hit Lungshan Temple in Wanhua District.
These were gravity bombs with no precision strike capability.
They rebuilt. Wanhua was a river port during that era, so it served as a logistics hub, that is, making it a primary target.
If Taipei really wants Washington to save its ass during a war with China, the storage of munitions in local temples is a violation of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).
Locals in Miaoli do not appear thrilled by the request, even though some temples signed the "Ammunition Reserve Support Agreement".
