TAIPEI - The de facto embassy in Taiwan, the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), posted a happy go-lucky bear packing a Go Bag for “natural disasters”.
On June 11, AIT Kaohsiung (AIT/K) posted a foreboding message on Facebook, featuring its water buffalo mascot, Amigu, packing an emergency Go Bag in case their a natural disaster like typhoons or earthquakes.
The image was accompanied by a checklist of survival essentials: drinking water, snacks, a first aid kit, clothing, a flashlight, and a phone charger—items one might need when the unexpected strikes.

“Make sure to pack your own Go Bag and be ready for anything. Stay safe, everyone,” the post warned.
The message resonated, drawing over 600 comments—many echoing a growing sense of unease.
