Red Flag - Taiwan
Red Flag Alaska 25-2 Exercise
By Wendell Minnick (Whiskey Mike) 顏文德
TAIPEI - Although Beijing objected to Taiwan’s involvement, the Taiwanese Air Force has been sending observers to the exercise since the early 2000s.
The U.S. Air Force’s (USAF) largest annual air combat drills are designed to enhance coordination among regional allies.
This year’s edition, June 12 to 27, brought together approximately 1,500 personnel and 70 aircraft from the United States, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, and other partner nations.
Taiwan did not directly participate in the drills; however, Major General Wu Chia-hsing (吳佳興), Commander of the Combat Readiness and Training Command under Taiwan’s Air Force Command Headquarters, attended as an observer.

The two-week exercise features multi-service, multi-platform combat scenarios designed to strengthen the operational capabilities of participating units. Training occurs across the expansive Joint Pacific-Alaska Range Complex, according to Pacific Air Forces.
