Nigel Inkster - MI6 Secret Intelligence Service
Enjoy this Spectator Interview on Chinese Intelligence
By Wendell Minnick (Whiskey Mike) 顏文德
TAIPEI - I have had the great pleasure of interacting with Nigel Inkster over the years. Hope you enjoy the VIDEO interview from the Spectator.
Inkster worked for 31 years in MI6, retiring at the end of 2006 as assistant chief and director of operations and intelligence.
Inkster once told Wendell Minnick at one of the many Shangri-la events that the most impressive weapon for close quarter assassinations was the Welrod silenced pistol that served during World War II and the Cold War. While explaining the weapon’s precision and success, Inkster was almost giddy.

During one evening over drinks, I asked Inkster if the rumors were true. That he was the inspiration for Nigel Nighy’s character Johnny Worricker in the 2011 spy movie Page 8. He laughed and said unfortunately not, as the actress Rachel Weisz was extraordinarily beautiful. Whether Inkster was being humble or not, his reputation and legendary status as a covert operations specialist is unquestionable.
