TAIPEI - New shoulder patch of the People's Liberation Army Aerospace Force (军事航天部队) has appeared for the first time.
The branch was created by President Xi Jinping on 19 April 2024 (immediately after restructuring the dysfunctional former PLA Strategic Support Force/PLASSF).
Major-General Hao Weizhong (郝卫中) is the commanding officer. He was put in charge by Xi after serving as the commander of the ‘Space Department’ of the defunct PLASSF. Major General Chen Hui (陈辉) is the political commissar of the new branch. He was a political warfare officer in the PLA Air Force (PLAAF) Airborne.
