We Salute the 26th Tactical Fighter Group (Witch Squadron)

TAIPEI - For Halloween this year, China In Arms would like to salute the 26th Tactical Fighter Group (TFG), “Witch Squadron”, equipped with F-16 fighters and based in Hualien.

I have visited the unit numerous times over the past 30 years and was honored to receive the challenge coin from the commander during one of the visits.
Carrying it in my pocket over the years was a mistake, as it has become somewhat worn, but it is a great coin.
The 26th is under the (401st) 5th Tactical Fighter Wing consisting of the 17th TFG (Thunder/F-16s) and 27th TFG (Black Dragons/F-16s).
Though officially the Air Force no longer refers to it as the 401st, it still crops up in media reports.
