China’s Helicopter Advancements
Additional Materials for Researchers
By Wendell Minnick (Whiskey Mike) 顏文德
TAIPEI - China is expected to make heavy use of helicopters during an invasion of Taiwan. The insertion of special operations forces is the obvious assumption, especially as China has built a replica of the Taiwan Presidential Building complete with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the western deserts for practice.
Note the X marks I made. These are large parking lots directly in front of the Presidential Building which are empty at night. At the end of the road, not shown below, is the CKS Memorial which can handle larger numbers of helicopters will bigger payloads; CKS is protected by a high wall around it making it a valuable landing zone.
In 2016, I published a 90-page book on Chinese Helicopters: Product Brochures collected from the 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016 China Airshow (Zhuhai Airshow) and the Singapore Airshow. Those interested in Chinese UAV rotorcraft: Chinese Rotary/VTOL Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (2016) and More Chinese Rotary and VTOL UAVs (2019).
However, I continued attending airshows in 2016 and 2018, therefore the below brochures were not in the book. What you will notice in the brochures below are names like Arriel and Honeywell doing business with China’s military.
ABOVE: Being a journalist can be dangerous when trying to sneak a photograph of a sensitive secret new Z11WB attack helicopter (2016 Airshow China/Zhuhai by Wendell Minnick).
Below contains brochures of the AC311, AC312A, AC312C, AC312E, Z9WE, Z10ME, CZ11, Z11WB, and Z19E x 2.
They are for paid subscribers only; subscriptions cost US $100 a year or $10 a month. You also get your selection of free patches if you get a one year subscription.
Since the below brochures are open source, paid subscribers are free to copy and paste them in reports, books, etc. Please note Wendell Minnick as contributor and which airshow the photo was taken.
