China Will Dominate Maritime Seas
U.S. Maritime Shipbuilding Shrinks
By Wendell Minnick (Whiskey Mike) 顏文德
TAIPEI - Now that the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) has the largest fleet in the world, the next phase of dominating the maritime shipbuilding sector is next.
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), part of the Executive Office (White House) serves as the President’s primary advisor and negotiator on trade matters, released the below 16 January 2025 report, entitled Report on China’s Targeting of the Maritime, Logistics, and Shipbuilding Sectors for Dominance (Section 301 Investigation).
The report demonstrates, in my opinion, that China is replacing the U.S. as the dominant Sea Power in the world. Sea Power defines a nation's ability to protect its political, economic, and military interests through control of the sea.
