China Cyber Attack on Taiwan Defense Conference
US-Taiwan Defense Industry Conference Attendees Targeted.

TAIPEI - Attendees of the US-Taiwan Defense Industry Conference were targeted by Chinese hackers.
The annual conference is sponsored by the Washington-based U.S.-Taiwan Business Council run by Rupert-Hammond Chambers. The “business” organization is actually a military-supporter of U.S. defense hardware to Taiwan and the conference brings together top U.S. defense officials, U.S. defense industry elites, Taiwan military officers, and Taiwan sales representatives for U.S. defense industry companies.
I should know, I was a conference speaker in 2006 on Taiwan special operation forces. In 2006, the U.S. had no interest in Taiwan’s military, but today the conference is a major event.
The US-Taiwan Defense Industry Conference 2024 will be held September 22-24, 2024, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This will be the 23rd annual event in a series of ongoing conferences addressing the future of U.S. defense cooperation with Taiwan, the defense procurement process, and Taiwan’s defense and national security needs.
Cyble Research and Intelligence Labs (CRIL) uncovered a campaign targeting the US-Taiwan Defense Industry Conference, using a malicious file to execute an in-memory attack, evading detection and exfiltrating sensitive data.
