Specialized terrain-adaptive parachute training course aimed at optimizing multi-environment operational readiness and expanding the full-spectrum capabilities of airborne combat units.
(Military News Agency – Wu Bo-rong, Taipei, 18 May 2025) — The Army Airborne Training Center recently concluded the 2025 Special Terrain Parachute Training Course, designed to enhance the multi-domain operational readiness of airborne personnel.
Upon successful completion of the course’s rigorous training pipeline, participants were formally recognized in a graduation ceremony presided over by Lt. Col. Hsiao, Deputy Commander of the Airborne Training Center.
Graduates received certificates of completion along with the Silver and White “Iron Man Parachute Emblems”, presented by senior parachute instructors—a symbol of elite status and all-terrain insertion capability within the Republic of China Army.
The 2025 iteration of the course commenced in mid-April, launching an accelerated training cycle focused on comprehensive terrain-adaptive airborne operations. Core components of the syllabus included:
· Repetition of parachute ground training modules
· Aquatic insertion training, including combat diving and open-water long-distance swimming
· Integrated survival instruction at the National Air Force Survival Training Center
· Advanced Iron Man Suit parachute operations
· Complex terrain jumps, including waterborne and multi-environment insertions
Over the duration of the program, trainees were required to complete seven full-spectrum parachute missions, encompassing:
· Three unarmed basic terrain jumps in the Iron Man parachute suit
· Two armed, complex-terrain insertions utilizing the Iron Man parachute system
· Two unarmed aquatic parachute drops
The course was engineered to simulate dynamic operational conditions, systematically enhancing the airborne unit’s capability to execute rapid deployments across varied terrains under adverse and unpredictable conditions.
This multidimensional training regimen served to strengthen the participants’ tactical proficiency, mental resilience, and readiness for all-weather, high-risk airborne missions.
The successful conclusion of this course marks a significant milestone in the continued evolution of the Republic of China Army’s airborne warfare doctrine and the cultivation of a new generation of terrain-agnostic rapid insertion forces.
