43 Chinese Warplanes Surround Taiwan
Taiwan's Air Defense No Where To Be Seen
By Wendell Minnick (Whiskey Mike) 顏文德
TAIPEI - China appears unrestrained—bold and undeterred. Aside from avoiding direct overflights of the island, its actions seem virtually unchecked.
Forty-three military aircraft circled Taiwan, swarming like bees defending a hive. Of forty-three, all crossed the Median Line of the Taiwan Strait.
One might ask with irony: Are these sorties intended to protect Taiwan from what threat, exactly?
No one seems to know what external force, if any, is threatening the island’s democracy.
Whatever the perceived threat to Taiwan, some might say, thank goodness China is there to protect it.
